Originating from an idea proposed by a 19-year-old, Calvin Christian Yulianto, who has a passion and dedication for preserving the earth, a tree-planting movement was created in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta, later named “GERAKAN LINTAS AGAMA MENANAM POHON.” This GERAKAN LINTAS AGAMA MENANAM POHON was chosen as the title because the activity is carried out by religious leaders, the government, and the community who share a common goal of preserving the earth by “voicing” the importance of humanity planting trees, driven by the enthusiasm for tree planting spearheaded by religious leaders as role models for the community. This movement is not just about planting trees but also about “planting hearts” for peace and harmony among religious communities, expected to serve as a “driving force” and an example for Indonesian society to plant trees while fostering peace and harmony in their hearts. With the support of Mr. Z.Siput.Lokasari and Ms. Veronica Lindayati, owners of Banyumili Country Club, who have dedicated their commercial land for a living monument imbued with peace and religious harmony to strengthen Yogyakarta as a city of tolerance, along with support from Mr. Jimmy Oentoro, Mr. GBPH Prabukusumo, Mr. GBPH Joyokusumo, Mr. Let.Kol.Agus Tri.Suyanto, Mr. Wimmie Handiwidjoyo MIT, Mr. Agus E Suprianto, Mr. Simon Nugroho, Mr. Agus Handoko, Mr. Soesilo, Mr. Harry Purnomo, and Mr. Sam Sianata, a foundation named YAYASAN GO GREEN CALVIN was established, and a committee was formed to carry out this GERAKAN LINTAS AGAMA MENANAM POHON, chaired by Mr. Agus Handoko. YAYASAN GO GREEN CALVIN and the GERAKAN LINTAS AGAMA MENANAM POHON Committee continue to promote the movement’s objectives, resulting in growing support from various parties, including Mr. Gubernur KDH Istimewa Yogyakarta Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X, Mr. Wakil Gubernur Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta Sri Paduka Paku Alam IX, Head of the DIY Forestry and Plantation Agency Mr. Ir.Dawam, Head of the Environmental Agency Mr. Drajat, Members of the Regional People’s Representative Council Mr. Nanang and Mr. Totok, Mr. Harry Setiawan, and Mr. Albert Riyanto. In addition to government support, contributions have also come from business actors as sponsors, including Mr. Rachmad (Pembangunan Perumahan), Mr. Edi Susanto, Mr. Jimmy Susanto, Mr. Sugiyanto, Mr. Handono (PANIN BANK), Mr. Sugiharto (MAD FLASH), and Mr. Gideon Hartono. To ignite the spirit of this movement, Calvin Christian Yulianto, who also created the song GO GREEN HIJAUKAN TANAHMU, along with his father Mr. Sam Sianata, permitted the song to be used by YAYASAN GO GREEN CALVIN. The song Go Green Hijaukan Tanahmu, created by Sam Sianata and Calvin Christian Yulianto, was performed at the launch of the 1 billion tree-planting initiative by the President of Indonesia Mr. Soesilo Bambang Yudhoyono in Sentul, West Java, and at various events, including the International Youth Conference and tree-planting activities in various locations. This movement will be carried out simultaneously and continuously in various regions across the country.
